Luxury jewelry auction fetches $200 million which sets a record in Geneva. The sale in Switzerland showcased rare jewelry, watches and wines. Christie's said that it has sold more than $108 million in three days. The sale includes $10.9 million paid for a 56-carat heart-shaped diamond.
An antique Imperial Mughal necklace brought in more than $5 million. A 1942 steel Rolex watch went for upwards of $1 million. The jewelry sale in Geneva was marked by strong bidding with exciting moments. Christie's called it their most successful jewelry sale in the last four decades in Geneva. David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby's European and Middle Eastern jewelry sales, called the jewelry auctions a great evidence for an extraordinary appetite among rare pieces lovers.

She is a also a very fashionable dresser, and in a recent interview she talked about where she got some of her favorite fashion jewelry. She said that when she lived on a military base with her husband in Germany, she would go to local markets and she found some lovely antique jewelry there for only $10.
She said that she loves Germany, and she has traveled with her husband and kids all across that country. They didn't have a car while living there, so the family traveled everywhere by bus and train. Those services are very good in Germany you can literally go anywhere in the country on them.

Since the 1920s designers from Germany have been producing some lovely costume jewelry. Most of the German jewelry we see today was imported after WWII and before reunification. Very popular are the multi-strand mixes of art glass and plastic beads from the 50's and 60's. The work of German designers over the years is truly varied and ranges from classical to sophisticated, and outlandish to whimsical.
The metal work tends to be of excellent quality that endures for years. This is in part due to the unique lightweight aluminum alloy used in it's construction. Known as Eloxal, this metal was most popular among German designers during the 50's – 70's, but it is still in use in Germany today. It will not tarnish and has the additional benefit of being scratch resistant. Eloxal was produced in a wide array of colors, but most frequently in rose gold, yellow gold, and silver.
