Eloxal Germany jewelry

Eloxal Germany jewelry

Since the 1920s designers from Germany have been producing some lovely costume jewelry. Most of the German jewelry we see today was imported after WWII and before reunification. Very popular are the multi-strand mixes of art glass and plastic beads from the 50's and 60's. The work of German designers over the years is truly varied and ranges from classical to sophisticated, and outlandish to whimsical.

The metal work tends to be of excellent quality that endures for years. This is in part due to the unique lightweight aluminum alloy used in it's construction. Known as Eloxal, this metal was most popular among German designers during the 50's – 70's, but it is still in use in Germany today. It will not tarnish and has the additional benefit of being scratch resistant. Eloxal was produced in a wide array of colors, but most frequently in rose gold, yellow gold, and silver.
